When heating fails, a pipe bursts or a roof starts leaking, the homeowner wants someone to answer and say what happens next. An AI phone agent for home services should pick up and work out whether there is a job to schedule. If there is, it books a visit within your dispatch rules. If your escalation rules say the job cannot wait, it wakes a person.
Standby Labs builds and runs AI voice agents for service businesses. Home services covers HVAC, plumbing, roofing and related field trades. We design the scripts and job types around the work your team actually does, so the flow fits your trade.
Sorting spam, shopping calls and real jobs
Some inbound calls do not need a dispatcher. Wrong numbers and unwanted sales calls should never reach the person on call. Estimate requests need your approved qualifying questions and a next step. Real jobs need the right details to book a visit against live capacity.
The agent asks what has happened, where the work is needed and how urgent it seems to the caller. Then it follows the categories and rules you approve. It does not invent urgency to sound helpful. It does not promise a visit before a slot exists.
Emergency keywords reach a human with context
Your team defines which words and situations take a call out of the routine booking flow. The agent gathers the essentials. It transfers to the person on call or uses the agreed escalation path. It also passes on a summary so your team can respond with context.
If nobody is reachable, we design the fallback before launch. That covers what the caller hears, who gets the alert and when to expect a callback. The agent does not pretend a person has taken over. It does not diagnose a fault or give life safety advice outside your approved script. When your policy includes it, the agent directs urgent safety situations to the appropriate emergency service.
After hours calls and storm peaks
Evenings, weekends and weather events can push up call volume while the office is closed or overloaded. An after hours agent can book approved job types. It can log routine overflow for the morning board and escalate cases that meet your urgent rules.
Your capacity rules still apply in a busy week. The agent offers what the schedule actually has. It will not invent availability for a stressed caller.
Book the visit and confirm it
When the request fits, the agent checks live availability and applies your travel windows and job length rules. It creates the appointment. Where SMS or WhatsApp is configured, it sends a confirmation there. For us, "booked" means the visit exists in the system your dispatchers trust. If the write back fails, the agent takes a callback request. It will not confirm a visit that did not land.
Scheduling stack diligence
Jobber and ServiceTitan are among the systems named in the lab's integration examples. We still assess your particular account and workflow before we promise a connection. We use the paths your stack supports, such as an API or webhook for data and SIP for telephony. We define what the agent may create or move, how success is verified and what stays with a dispatcher.
We do not claim native write back to every field service platform.
An illustrative dispatch demo
The service dispatch sample on our voice page is labeled Oakmont Roofing. It is an illustrative demo. It shows the agent taking job details and arranging the right next step. We do not present it as a customer case study, and it does not show revenue or appointment results.
The same voice practice also serves clinics and dental teams. Their booking and escalation rules are different.
The lab behind the agent
Standby Labs is SYEDEV LLC FZ trading as Standby Labs. Our founder, Syed Asghar, leads research and engineering. We are headquartered in Dubai and work with teams in the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Australia. We test agents on real call scenarios. After launch, we review transcripts every week. Learn more about the lab.
During scope we consider disclosure, call handling and data controls for your region and workflow. That includes applicable TCPA and FCC rules, GDPR and the UAE PDPL. We evaluate these as requirements. We do not claim any certification or endorsement.
Book a scoping call
Bring your call patterns, your scheduling tool and a few after hours examples. We will sort the calls that are not jobs from the real work. We will also agree the escalation rules and what may book before anyone is woken.

Questions field teams ask
Will it wake my on call tech for every evening call?
No. It follows the urgent keywords and severity rules you approve. Routine jobs that come in after hours can book or wait for the morning team.
Can it tell homeowners what is wrong with their system?
It can collect the details you allow and then book or escalate. Diagnosis stays with a technician.
Do you connect to Jobber or ServiceTitan?
They are among the systems named by the lab. We still assess write back for your account and workflow before we make an integration promise.
What about HVAC, plumbing and roofing specifically?
The intake pattern is the same across them. Scripts, job types, capacity and escalation rules differ by trade. We scope the trades you run.
How do callers know it is AI?
Every agent tells callers it is an AI at the start of the call.
